Shapuk, a rural area of the Kech district in Balochistan province, is devoid of basic health facilities. The people of Shapuk have to travel a long distance to reach Turbat or Karachi for even minor treatment. When faced with emergencies, like road accidents, injuries or maternity cases, patients often die on the way due to the lack of doctors, medicines and ambulance services. Poor people cannot afford the cost of transportation to the city. Health is a basic right, and it is the duty of the government to provide medical facilities to everyone, no matter where they live.
I request the provincial government to take immediate steps to establish a hospital in Shapuk, and in other rural parts of Kech district for that matter, equipped with emergency services and radiology facilities, and having qualified doctors and trained paramedical staff.
