SNGPL conducts meter reading on the 6th of every month. But they deliver bills to homes on 20th – only three days before the due date. They also charge meter rent on meter-sets that have been paid for by users. They also charge a fixed amount of Rs1550 on each bill which is not explained in the bill. My bill also show arrears of Rs5 while I had paid the previous bill in full.
The SNGPL should deliver the bill at least 10 days before the due date. They should also explain the fixed charges shown on the bill. Moreover, the government should stop the SNGPL from charging rental fees as users have already paid for the meters at the time of installation. The government should also investigate the illegal arrears payments, when users have cleared their previous bills.
At a time when Pakistanis are suffering from massive inflation and high prices, government organisations like the SNGPL should not extract fake arrears and rental payments from subscribers.
