Residents of Turbat continue to face difficulties when seeking medical treatment. Concerns regarding shortages of medicines, medical equipment, diagnostic facilities and adequately trained staff have made access to timely treatment difficult for many patients.
The consequences become particularly serious when patients require specialised treatment that is not readily available locally. Families have had to travel to Quetta or Karachi, turning a medical emergency into a costly and exhausting journey. For low-income families, transportation, accommodation and treatment costs can become an additional burden at a time when they are already under financial and emotional stress.
Turbat needs healthcare facilities capable of providing more than basic consultations. Hospitals should have functioning diagnostic equipment, adequate emergency departments, sufficient medicines, trained doctors and nurses, blood-bank facilities and reliable referral systems.
The authorities should conduct a comprehensive assessment of public healthcare facilities in Turbat and identify shortages in equipment, medicines, staff and infrastructure. A transparent monitoring mechanism should then track whether these deficiencies are actually being addressed.
I request the provincial and district health authorities to take practical steps to upgrade healthcare facilities in Turbat and ensure that patients receive timely, safe and affordable medical care.
