Aror is not an ordinary village but one with centuries of history and unique cultural significance. This place, located in the Sukkur district of Sindh, had immense historical significance as it sat closest to the Indus River, according to historical records. This ancient territory is intrinsically linked with the history of the Arab conquest of Sindh in the 8th century. The most prominent historical monument associated with Aror is a mosque built by Muhammad bin Qasim. Today, this mosque lies in poor condition, with only fragments of its ancient structure preserved.
It is crucial to save the ancient heritage of the village from being lost once and for all. Otherwise, future generations will learn about those bygone times through documents instead of being able to see the remains of the ancient world with their own eyes. It is imperative that the government take all necessary steps to ensure the maintenance and development of this unique place. We need to conserve the artifacts and develop the infrastructure for tourists and scholars who wish to study and explore the settlement’s history.
Aror can become a centre of historical and cultural significance for both researchers and regular visitors. The authorities must pay attention to the cultural and historical legacy of Aror and take practical steps towards its preservation and development.
