Thul, a taluka of Jacobabad district and home to more than 800,000 people, is facing a serious healthcare crisis. The Taluka Civil Hospital is supposed to provide medical care to thousands of poor people in the area, but unfortunately, due to the increasing negligence of the responsible authorities, the hospital is unable to provide even basic first aid.
According to the district health administration, over 40% of doctors do not report to the Civil Hospital where they are employed by the government. Instead, these doctors work at private hospitals to earn additional money. This collective negligence by a well-respected segment of society undermines the already fragile healthcare system for the people of Thul.
On the other hand, old buildings, damaged patient-care beds and the unavailability of drinking water facilities make it difficult for patients to receive proper medical treatment. According to local news channels, people protest against the hospital management almost every month but to no avail.
I, on behalf of the people of Thul, urge the higher authorities to intervene and restore healthcare facilities at Civil Hospital Thul so that the already marginalised community of this area can receive the healthcare services they deserve.
