In today’s modern era, education is as important as money to become independent. Unfortunately, in Pakistan, it is becoming harder to become an educated person due to the growing crisis of learning poverty. According to the World Bank, around 78% of 10-year-old children in Pakistan are in learning poverty, meaning they cannot read and understand a simple, age-appropriate text. In addition, UNICEF reports that around 25.1 million children aged 5 to 16 are out of school.
These figures show that Pakistan is facing two connected problems: millions of children are out of school, while many children who attend school are still not gaining basic learning skills. The main causes include a lack of trained teachers and effective teaching methods, poverty and a shortage of learning resources. If this situation continues, it will affect not only children but also the country’s economic development, as an uneducated and unskilled population cannot contribute fully to the economy.
Therefore, the government should take this issue seriously by improving learning resources, providing proper teacher training, and ensuring quality education for every child. Immediate action is needed to give children the skills they need for a better and more independent future.
