A few minutes can decide whether an injured person gets better or faces a serious situation. Yet, many people in Pakistan do not know even the basic first aid needed when someone is hurt, bleeding or involved in an accident before an ambulance arrives. According to a study, 43% of people in Pakistan have poor knowledge of first aid, while only 12% have good knowledge. More than 60% of university students have moderate awareness, and fewer than four out of ten people have ever attended a first-aid training course.
Because of this lack of knowledge, small injuries can become serious, and many lives can be lost while waiting for an ambulance. With proper first-aid awareness, many such deaths can be prevented. It can also make people more confident and prepared to help others in emergencies.
It is critical that schools and communities across Pakistan teach first aid to people of all ages. It is a vital life skill that everyone needs to learn, which can make difficult situations much easier to handle.
