Thul to Kandhkot

Letter August 29, 2026
Thul to Kandhkot

KARACHI:

The vital link road connecting Thul city to Kandhkot via Chowk Lashari village is in a deplorable state right now. For two decades, the residents and business community of Thul city have suffered due to this neglected infrastructure. Despite a massive local political following for the ruling representatives in the area, no meaningful action has been taken to repair or reconstruct this road. It is an open secret that funds are frequently allocated and tenders are awarded, yet contractors allegedly pocket the money and disappear without accountability.
Thul city is a bustling economic hub, home to over 100 rice mills and a thriving agricultural sector. However, the broken and hazardous state of the road poses severe safety risks to transporters, farmers and daily commuters.
Furthermore, in medical emergencies, residents struggle to reach hospitals in time because navigating the bumpy, crater-filled roads worsens patients’ conditions. Despite repeated appeals to our local Member of the Provincial Assembly over the last 20 years, our pleas continue to fall on deaf ears.
I earnestly request the higher authorities, the provincial government and anti-corruption watchdogs to take immediate notice of this prolonged neglect. We urge them to initiate an inquiry into the misappropriation of funds for the Chowk Lashari to Tangwani link road and ensure its urgent reconstruction to alleviate the suffering of the local population.
