KARACHI:
For many women, especially students and working women, public transport is an essential part of their daily lives. Overcrowded buses, inadequate transport facilities, harassment and a lack of safe waiting areas often make travelling difficult and stressful for women. These problems can also discourage girls from continuing their education or pursuing employment opportunities.
The government and relevant authorities should improve public transport facilities and ensure proper safety measures. More women-friendly transport services, trained staff, CCTV cameras, complaint mechanisms and safe waiting areas can help create a more secure travelling environment.
Providing safe public transport is not only a matter of convenience but also an important step toward increasing women’s participation in education and the workforce. I hope the concerned authorities will take practical measures to address this issue.
