Mastung, where an unstable power supply reflects the country’s economic weaknesses, remains one of the most underdeveloped districts of Balochistan. Occasional and inconsistent access to electricity may create the illusion that development is within reach. However, residents are left to cope with low voltage or prolonged blackouts. It would not be wrong to say that people here continue to live in conditions that feel decades behind.
The true tragedy of this crisis is not only the physical darkness, but the silent theft of a brighter future for the youth of Mastung. In an era defined by artificial intelligence and digital advancement, students in Mastung remain deprived of basic internet access. Many are forced to study by candlelight, while their peers in more developed cities benefit from reliable electricity and high-speed connectivity.
Students in Mastung lack even basic amenities such as fans in classrooms, let alone access to multimedia and digital tools essential for a 21st-century education. During extreme heat, classrooms become spaces of endurance rather than learning. This ongoing situation has placed a severe strain on the well-being and prospects of the youth.
Therefore, it can be asserted that the progress of Mastung depends not on illusion, but on urgent and sustained investment in essential infrastructure, particularly electricity, to enable its people to move towards a better future.
