In an era where knowledge needs to be updated, outdated books limit one’s thinking. Books are one of the most valuable resources, but outdated ones often hinder one’s critical thinking by providing examples that are centuries old.
Unfortunately, in the 21st century, the people of the 20th century are teaching the books of the 19th century using the method of the 18th century. This signifies how urgently they need to be altered. Obsolete books provide examples that are not relevant to modern society, making learning uninteresting. Students cannot relate to the modern-day world because they have never been taught to think that way. Teachers blindly follow the examples that are perhaps wrong.
Therefore, it is high time to change the books, especially those that contain inaccurate theories, definitions and examples. These textbooks contain lengthy questions that may not encourage problem-solving strategies but rather rote memorisation.
Plato believed education should spark wisdom, not just fill the mind. Education is the fundamental right of every individual, and quality education is the need of the hour. Revising the books according to the current syllabus encourages new ideas where exploration and creation become possible.
