Thalassemia continues to affect countless families across the Kech district in Balochistan. There, the Kech Thalassemia Centre stands as a beacon of hope for affected children and their families. For many patients, survival depends on regular blood transfusions and proper medical care. The centre plays a vital role in providing essential services to those patients and has become a refuge for families who would otherwise have to travel long distances to access treatment, often at great financial and emotional cost.
For poor families, this facility is nothing short of a blessing. However, despite its importance, the centre faces numerous challenges. Limited resources, shortage of blood supplies, lack of modern equipment and insufficient funding hinder its ability to serve patients effectively. Many children depend on regular transfusions, yet the availability of safe blood remains uncertain. This situation puts innocent lives at constant risk. Therefore, there is an urgent need for government authorities, health departments and welfare organisations to step forward and strengthen this crucial institution.
The community too has a responsibility to support the centre by donating blood and contributing to its welfare. A collective effort by both the government and society can transform the Kech Thalassemia Centre into a fully equipped facility capable of saving countless lives.
