KARACHI:
Pakistan has many longstanding issues that have become deeply entrenched because of continuous delays in addressing them. We do not actually lack policies and laws; what the country lacks is proper implementation and enforcement. Rights are violated not because of the absence of laws but because of the failure to enforce them. Similarly, unresolved problems do not necessarily mean that there are no policies; rather, they persist because of poor implementation.
Every time leaders make commitments, they often leave them unfulfilled, as if nothing had happened. This reflects that many of these promises are merely political slogans. Pakistanis have witnessed countless promises over the years, and now what truly matters is implementation, not just words. Until implementation becomes the standard rather than the exception, no promise will mean much.
