KARACHI:
The shortage of clean drinking water in many parts of Balochistan cannot be over-emphasised. Development is not only about building roads and buildings. Real development is when every person has access to clean drinking water, healthcare, and a life of dignity. Clean water is a basic need of life, but unfortunately many people in remote areas are forced to collect water from dirty ponds. This water is often unsafe and can affect people’s health and cause various diseases. It is very unfortunate that in some areas people and animals depend on the same polluted and dirty water sources. The authorities must initiate water supply schemes, repair non-functional water facilities, and ensure availability of safe drinking water for all.
