KARACHI:
Pakistan’s population is increasing rapidly, and many trees are being cut down to build houses, roads, markets and other infrastructure. As a result, forests are shrinking, temperatures are rising and environmental pollution is becoming more serious. Trees play a vital role in maintaining the climate, improving air quality, preventing soil erosion and providing shelter for wildlife. Without enough trees, our environment and future generations will suffer.
The government should allocate more funds for tree plantation campaigns and strictly enforce laws against illegal deforestation. Educational institutions, local communities and environmental organisations should also participate in planting and protecting trees. Public awareness campaigns can encourage people to understand the importance of preserving our natural resources.
