KARACHI:
Every year, thousands of students receive report cards, but very few receive an education that prepares them for life. Our education system continues to measure success through marks, rankings and examinations while neglecting essential skills such as critical thinking, communication, emotional intelligence and creativity. Students are taught how to answer questions but rarely encouraged to ask them. As a result, many young people leave school with certificates in hand yet struggle with confidence, decision-making and problem-solving.
Parents and teachers often celebrate high grades without considering whether children are developing curiosity, resilience and independent thought. Education should not be a race to secure numbers on a transcript; it should be a process that helps individuals understand themselves and contribute meaningfully to society. True success lies not only in academic achievement but in preparing young people to navigate life with wisdom, character and purpose.
