KARACHI:
In today’s digital age, reliable internet access is a necessity for economic development. Despite the rapid growth of digital services, millions in rural Pakistan still lack access to stable internet. Even major cities like Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Rawalpindi frequently experience service disruptions and slow connectivity. The situation is particularly challenging in the remote regions of Balochistan, G-B and Azad Kashmir where internet access remains limited and unreliable.
The consequences are severe. Students are unable to attend online classes or access educational resources, while freelancers and online businesses suffer financial losses due to connectivity interruptions. Digital payment systems often face disruptions thereby creating inconvenience for both businesses and consumers alike. Furthermore, poor internet access also isolates communities and restricts communication.
According to international studies, increased internet penetration significantly contributes to economic growth and innovation. Therefore, improving digital infrastructure should be treated as a national priority. Connecting every citizen to the digital world is essential for Pakistan’s future progress.
