Poor, encroached road

Letter June 19, 2026
Poor, encroached road

KARACHI:

The condition of the Quaidabad section of the National Highway in Karachi is pathetic, to say the least. As someone who travels on this road daily, I have seen how deep potholes, broken patches and open ditches make travel dangerous. This damages vehicles and puts the lives of motorcyclists, pedestrians and truck drivers at risk every day.
The situation is made worse by encroachments. Vendors and shopkeepers have taken over parts of the road, leaving very little space for traffic. This causes major jams during rush hours and increases the chances of accidents.
The KMC, the NHA and the district administration should take a quick action. The road should be repaired as early as possible, encroachments should be removed, and traffic should be properly managed.
