KARACHI:
On 10th June, I traveled from Quetta to Turbat via Karachi by a private company’s bus, as the direct Turbat route was blocked at that time. The bus that I boarded was in extremely poor condition and highly uncomfortable for the passengers. During the journey, we faced many problems. When asked for drinking water, the bus conductor told us that no water was available for passengers. And when due to the intense heat, we demanded switching on the air conditioner, we were told that it was not functioning. As a result, the passengers, including women and children, suffered greatly throughout the journey. As a large number of people travel by road daily due to unavailability of seats on trains, the authorities should carry out proper inspection of inter-city buses, and only allow those buses to hit the road that are well-maintained and fit in all respects.
