KARACHI:
The city of Abbottabad has traditionally benefited from a relatively educated and socially aware population, supported by a broad network of schools and educational institutions. This has helped establish its reputation as one of the safer cities in the country. Unfortunately, that reputation is increasingly under threat. Rising crime has become a growing concern for residents with reports of theft, abuse, rape and murder appearing more frequently than before.
One incident in particular has shaken the entire city: the murder of Mazullah near Jadoon Plaza. Beyond the tragic loss of life, the incident has deeply undermined the sense of security that residents once took for granted. A city known for peace should not become associated with fear. The increasing number of such incidents has left many residents wondering whether Abbottabad remains the safe haven it once was.
