Late arriving EV buses

Late arriving EV buses

KARACHI:

These EV buses are a commendable initiative. They are comfortable, air-conditioned, well-managed and operate on fixed routes unlike many local buses. They have significantly improved the travelling experience for citizens, particularly students and working professionals.
However, one major problem faced by passengers is the frequent delay in bus arrivals. Buses often fail to arrive according to the published schedule, forcing commuters to wait for long periods under Karachi’s intense heat. This not only wastes valuable time but also causes considerable inconvenience. Moreover, these delays result in large crowds gathering at bus stops. By the time a bus arrives, passengers rush to board at once, creating overcrowding and disorder. In the resulting chaos, people push and jostle with one another. Many passengers, especially women, feel uncomfortable due to the lack of proper crowd management. In some cases, passengers have even suffer injuries while attempting to board.
The concerned authorities should ensure greater punctuality in bus operations. In addition, proper crowd management measures should be implemented at bus stops so that passengers can board in an orderly manner. Staff members should be present to regulate queues to prevent overcrowding and maintain discipline. Such steps would improve both safety and the overall commuting experience.
