Rising crime

Rising crime

KARACHI:

In Turbat, a city that once symbolised peace, fear has now replaced a sense of security due to the rising cases of armed robberies. Where is the law enforcement’s presence? Why are criminals able to escape so easily? The lack of visible policing, proper surveillance and swift justice has emboldened criminals while leaving citizens defenceless. When people lose faith in the system meant to protect them, it creates a dangerous environment where fear dominates everyday life.
Moreover, the psychological impact of such crimes cannot be ignored. Families are living in constant worry, businesses are suffering and the overall atmosphere of the city is turning tense. Parents fear sending their children outside, and traders hesitate to keep their shops open after sunset. This is not the life people deserve.
The authorities must act immediately and decisively. There is an urgent need to increase police patrols, improve intelligence networks and ensure strict punishment for offenders. Installing surveillance cameras in key areas and strengthening coordination between security agencies can also help restore order. I urge them to treat this issue as a priority before it is too late.
