KARACHI:
In this era of advanced technology, being alone no longer irritates or bores us because our devices keep us constantly busy in ‘doomscrolling’. However, endless scrolling is creating problems not only for this generation but also for the next one. Gen-z is living in an era where communication is easy but mostly online. This has reduced a lot of necessary friction in their lives.
In the past, human connections were strong. Sometimes, people eagerly waited for letters from their loved ones for over a month. Today, despite instant communication, our generation sorely lacks communication skills and genuine connections. Children learn to scroll before they walk. They can’t eat without watching a screen. Their brains are full of mindless content before they’re even developed.
The use of mobile phones, among children and adults alike, must be limited. We must learn to handle our devices in a way that doesn’t make us lose the very essence of human life — connections.
