Tempering at petrol pumps

Tempering at petrol pumps

KARACHI:

While petrol prices are already skyrocketing, having exceeded Rs400 per litre, faulty measuring by petrol pump operators has made it even more expensive for consumers. The backbreaking inflation has caused severe financial pressure on people, and such dishonest practices are adding to their hardships.
Many a consumer alleges that control rooms at petrol pumps are equipped with hidden devices connected to fuel machines; and by pressing a button, the quantity of petrol dispensed can be reduced – for example, to 0.96 liters instead of a full liter. When an inspection officer arrives, the person in the control room switches off the device, and the machines begin dispensing the correct quantity.
The relevant authorities are requested to ensure strict inspection of petrol pump measurements and investigate the hidden devices installed in control rooms.
