KARACHI:
This year, Eid-ul-Azha arrives during the peak of the summer season, bringing both joy and challenges for people across Pakistan. While this Eid is a sacred occasion of sacrifice, unity and compassion, the extreme heat has made preparations and celebrations more difficult for many families. High temperatures during Eid days can create serious health concerns, especially for those involved in animal care, sacrifice arrangements and outdoor activities. Prolonged exposure to heat may lead to dehydration, exhaustion and heatstroke, particularly among elderly individuals and workers performing physical labour under the sun.
To address these challenges, authorities must ensure timely waste collection, proper sanitation measures and availability of clean water in public areas. Citizens also have a responsibility to maintain hygiene, avoid unnecessary waste and follow safety precautions during the heat. Despite these difficulties, the spirit of Eid-ul-Azha remains strong. The festival teaches sacrifice, patience and care for others. Families continue to share meat with the poor and spend meaningful time together, reflecting the true values of the occasion.
