Questionable CCE results

KARACHI:

The recently announced results of CCE-2024 have sparked serious concern across Sindh. Out of nearly 12,000 candidates who appeared in the examination, just about 70 managed to qualify. The figures stand in stark contrast to the previous year, when approximately 598 candidates succeeded out of 2,200 participants in CCE-2023. Such a sharp decline naturally raises questions regarding both the standard of preparation among candidates and the transparency and consistency of the examination and evaluation process.
While educational challenges in Sindh are well documented, it is difficult to ignore the extraordinary disparity between the outcomes of two consecutive examinations. The issue is particularly sensitive because competitive examinations represent one of the few avenues through which educated youth seek job opportunities on the basis of merit. Any perception of inconsistency, lack of transparency or irregularity can further erode public trust in institutions already facing credibility challenges. It is therefore essential for the relevant authorities, including the Sindh Public Service Commission, to provide greater clarity regarding the examination process, assessment criteria and overall evaluation standards.
Transparency in such matters is necessary not only to address public concerns but also to restore the confidence of thousands of candidates who invest years of effort and preparation in these examinations. A fair, transparent and merit-based recruitment system remains indispensable for institutional credibility and for the future of Sindh’s educated youth.
