Hard work in vain

Hard work in vain

KARACHI:

A dangerous feeling is taking root amongst the educated youth of Balochistan — the feeling that hard work no longer guarantees success. Thousands of students spend years studying day and night, preparing for tests and interviews with the hope of earning an honest livelihood. Yet many young people believe that merit is slowly losing its value.
In cities like Turbat, students study under severe hardships. Some prepare for exams during long power outages, while others travel great distances just to attend coaching centres or examination halls. Parents invest their savings in their children’s education because they believe education is the only path toward a better future. Sadly, many graduates remain unemployed despite their qualifications and dedication.
Young people simply want transparent examinations, timely recruitment and equal opportunities based on merit rather than influence or connections. Merit is not merely a policy — it is the foundation of justice and national development. When deserving candidates are ignored, society loses talented teachers, officers, engineers and future leaders.
The authorities must restore confidence among the youth by ensuring transparency in every recruitment process and by creating more opportunities in neglected regions. The dreams of thousands of hardworking students should not be buried under corruption, favouritism or administrative silence.
