A BPSC centre in Kech

A BPSC centre in Kech

KARACHI:

Balochistan’s Kech district – which has a population of more than one million people, according to the 2023 census – is deprived of a basic facility crucial for its youth: an examination centre for Balochistan Public Service Commission. At present, all BPSC tests are conducted in Quetta, which creates a significant barrier for candidates from Kech. This situation is not just causing inconvenience but is also discouraging for students who are already striving hard for the limited job opportunities available.
Candidates are forced to travel long distances to Quetta, bearing additional expenses for transport, accommodation and food. For many deserving students, especially those from modest backgrounds, these extra costs become a serious obstacle which sometimes even prevent them from appearing in exams.
The youth of Kech deserve to be treated on a par with their counterparts in Quetta. Authorities should take immediate steps to address this issue and ensure that no candidate is treated unfairly simply because of their location.
