KARACHI:
Dengue fever has reemerged as a significant public health concern in Turbat, Balochistan, with a growing number of cases reported in April 2026. In 2024, the Kech district recorded over 5,000 dengue cases, with 14 deaths reported in Turbat alone.
The situation in 2026 is once again cause for serious concern. According to the Teaching Hospital in Turbat, 92 positive cases have been confirmed between April 1 and April 14. It is regrettable that an effective mosquito spraying campaign in the locality has still not been initiated. I implore the concerned authorities to take immediate notice of the situation and implement emergency measures to bring the outbreak under control. The lives and health of the people of Turbat must not be allowed to remain at risk due to administrative inaction.
