Six months ago, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited undertook the work of laying new gas pipelines in Karachi and, after completing the work, simply covered the dug-up roads with mud. This made the road surface uneven resulting in accidents particularly during rains. The city government has yet to carpet these dug-up roads.
Moreover, the road in Garden East leading towards Aga Khan Jamatkhana had been carpeted a month ago. And now we see cement pipes lined up along the road, indicating that the road which was recently carpeted will be dug up once again for laying sewerage lines.
God knows when the sewerage pipeline will be laid and when this road will be carpeted again, if at all. This speaks of a serious lack of coordination among the various civic departments. One wonders how long the hard-earned money of the taxpayers of Karachi will be wasted like this.
