Deepfakes and disinformation

Deepfakes and disinformation

With the rapid development of technology and social media, it has become easier for people to create and spread false information on the internet. Deepfake videos, which use artificial intelligence to create realistic but fake videos of people, can easily mislead the public. These manipulated videos can damage the reputation of individuals, spread false rumors and create confusion among people. Many users on social media believe and share such content without checking whether it is real or fake which makes the problem worse.

It is very important for people to verify information before sharing it online. Social media platforms should also take stronger actions to detect and remove fake content. At the same time, awareness programs should be introduced to educate people about the dangers of misinformation. If proper steps are not taken, deepfake videos and online misinformation can weaken trust in real news. Therefore, both authorities and the public must work together to address this issue.
