Political polarisation

Letter March 09, 2026
Political polarisation

Political polarisation in our society is growing extremely rapidly. People today seem more divided than ever because of their political beliefs. Instead of discussing issues calmly, many arguments turn into anger and hostility. This is affecting friendships, families and communities.

Social media often makes the situation worse by spreading misinformation and encouraging extreme views. As a result, people are less willing to listen to others or respect different opinions. While political differences are normal in a democracy, but we must learn to disagree respectfully. Open dialogue, understanding and tolerance are important to bring people together. If we focus on common goals rather than differences, we can build a more united and a peaceful society.
