In today’s digital world, social media and mobile phones are an essential part of students’ lives. Unfortunately, this has also given rise to a serious problem: cyberbullying. Many students are facing harassment, threats and humiliation online, which can have a devastating impact on their mental health and overall wellbeing.
Victims of cyberbullying often experience stress, anxiety and depression. Some even avoid school or lose interest in studies due to fear and embarrassment. In extreme cases, it can lead to serious psychological issues. Such online harassment not only affects academic performance but also damages self-confidence and social relationships.
Parents, teachers and school authorities must take this issue seriously. Schools should organise awareness programs, workshops and counselling sessions to educate students about responsible internet use and the dangers of online harassment. Parents should actively monitor their children’s online activity and guide them on how to behave safely and responsibly online.
Moreover, the government and relevant authorities should enforce strict laws against cyberbullying and provide accessible support systems, such as helplines and counselling centres, for victims. Society as a whole must speak out against cyberbullying and encourage students to report incidents without fear. Immediate action is needed to create a safe and positive online environment for students. By working together, we can ensure that technology benefits students rather than harms them.
