An often-unaddressed issue in Pakistani classrooms is persistent noise pollution which distracts students from their work and negatively impacts their learning. Most schools in Pakistan are located near main roads and often lack the proper spaces that learning institutions generally require.
Around 30% schools in Balochistan even lack proper boundaries, which not only lets excessive noise in but also makes children feel unsafe. Classrooms are close to each other, which also causes disturbances.
I urge the government to build walls to protect schools and maintain noise-free zones around schools. However, it is not only the government’s responsibility — the public should also reduce loud music and noisy vehicles like motorcycles, rickshaws and cars to support children’s education.
