Fuel price hike

Letter February 21, 2026
Fuel price hike

The recent increase in fuel prices in Pakistan is unjustified. The government has raised the price of petrol by Rs5 per litre, bringing it to Rs258.17 per litre. Diesel (HSD) has also increased by Rs7.32 per litre and now costs Rs275.70 per litre. These prices are expected to remain in effect for at least 15 days.

The sharp rise in fuel prices is causing serious difficulties for the public. Many people are unable to afford petrol and diesel to run their vehicles, affecting daily transportation. Businesses are also struggling to transport goods, which may further increase the cost of living.

I urge the authorities to consider measures to ease the burden on citizens and ensure that fuel remains affordable for the public. Awareness of this issue is important to prompt timely action.
