Parks are no doubt important leisure spaces but unfortunately, without proper care and attention they can become deserted and turn into hideout spots for drug addicts. A few days ago, I happened to visit Benazir Bhutto Park located in front of DC office.
To my utter disappointment, I found it in a dilapidated condition. The park has lost its charm due to sheer negligence. This recreational facility has been reduced to rubble, layers of dust and a site strewn with gravel. It has turned into a concrete jungle.
There is no exaggeration in saying that public parks always play a positive and constructive role in society by encouraging healthy activities and bringing about happiness and smiles on the faces of children. Instead of neglecting the park worth so much, proper attention should be paid to its renovation. Until and unless the elected representatives and municipal authorities take the park’s rehabilitation seriously, it remains useless for citizens.
