The condition of Sindh’s highways while travelling from Sukkur to Karachi is deeply troubling. Recently, what should have been a smooth journey of approximately three hours from Sukkur to Kandiaro turned into an exhausting eight-hour ordeal. The highway was plagued with severe mismanagement, poor road conditions and hours-long traffic jams.
One of the most disturbing aspects was the complete absence of a separate route for heavy cargo trucks. These trucks created dangerous driving conditions and posed a serious threat to the safety of travellers.
The lack of proper planning, regulation and effective allocation of funds is evident. When compared to the well-maintained motorways and highways of Punjab, the situation in Sindh is nothing short of disgraceful. Roads are meant to connect cities and facilitate economic activity instead of becoming sources of frustration, risk and unnecessary delay. This negligence not only affects daily commuters but also tarnishes the image of Sindh as a whole.
Citizens deserve safe, efficient and well-managed road infrastructure. Authorities must take immediate action to improve highway conditions, regulate heavy traffic and ensure that public funds are used responsibly.
