Health and safety

Letter February 07, 2026
Health and safety

The people of Nasirabad are deprived of basic needs including health and security. At present, people have to face snatchings, robberies and drug-related crimes almost daily. Even schools are not safe. There have been cases of robbery in schools where batteries and other useful items were stolen. Because of this, the daily routine of schools was badly affected.

Drugs are another serious issue. In many public places, people openly use drugs like opium, ice, cannabis and alcohol. There is no one to stop them. Due to this situation, many young people and even children are becoming addicted to drugs, which is very harmful both for themselves and for society. Sadly, police and other law enforcement agencies have failed to control these problems.

The second major issue is health. There is only one hospital in the area, but it does not have basic facilities. There are no proper hygiene practices, the staff is not well trained, medicines are not available and an ambulance service is also not provided properly. Because of this, people are forced to go to other cities for treatment, which is very expensive due to travelling and medical costs. Poor patients suffer the most.

I request all concerned authorities, especially the Sindh government, to take serious notice of these problems. Security, health facilities and a drug-free environment are basic rights of the people. If these issues are not addressed, the situation will become worse day by day.
