As a nation, we are faced with so many fronts on which our performance is negative. We have to contend with a number of issues, many of which have been carried forward from the previous year or years. A lot of our issues are either external or complicated and would, therefore, require time to sort themselves out. Economic failure is one.
Social stagnation is another. Terrorism, in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, is yet another. Problematic international relations with our two immediate, important and largest neighbours – India and Afghanistan – is yet still another. And so forth.
But what about internal political harmony and stability? Well, this issue is certainly in our control if we can muster the courage to resolve it. An olive branch has already been offered to PTI with its parliamentarians or like-minded ones assuming important responsibilities as the respective leaders of the opposition in both houses of parliament. Fair enough and very good so far.
There is hope that we can bring political harmony in the country in 2026. If we are able to do so, the helmsmen can go about resolving the other issues without any hindrance, fear or favour. Perhaps, ‘political stability’ is the tool that could trigger a positive domino effect on all our remaining contentious issues.
