Balochistan is grappling with a severe unemployment crisis. The province’s literacy rate stands at 42.01%, the lowest among all provinces, with only 38.6% of the population participating in the labour force.
Consequently, the unemployment rate has soared to 9.13%, the highest in the country. Lack of job opportunities, limited private sector and disconnect between industry and universities are major contributors to this issue. Graduates often migrate to other provinces seeking better opportunities, only to end up in low-paid jobs.
Policymakers must prioritise job creation, skills development and entrepreneurship in Balochistan. It’s time for collective action to address this pressing issue.
