Sector G-14/1, Islamabad, under the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA), has been facing longstanding neglect. It was announced in 2004, yet it remains partially undeveloped despite being located in the very heart of the capital.
Tragically, many allottees have passed away without ever seeing their plots materialise into homes. I myself purchased a plot in 2008, and at the age of 56 — having survived cancer — I still wait for the day when my family can build a house here. My children often ask when this dream will come true, but I have no answer.
It is deeply frustrating that while sub-sectors G-14/2, G-14/3 and G-14/4 have been developed, G-14/1 remains stalled. The primary reason is illegal occupation of land, which the housing authority has failed to retrieve.
This raises serious questions about the governance of Islamabad. If the administration cannot vacate a relatively small piece of land for the benefit of thousands of allottees, what confidence can citizens have in its ability to manage larger challenges? I urge the authorities to take immediate and decisive action to retrieve the land of Sector G-14/1 and begin development without further delay. Justice delayed is justice denied, and the allottees of this sector have already suffered far too long.
