There is an urgent need for upgraded textbooks for students in Balochistan. Currently, students of classes 8th, 9th and 10th rely on textbooks that are outdated, lengthy and difficult to complete before board examinations. Many chapters in these books are irrelevant and do not contribute meaningfully to students’ understanding.
Shockingly, these textbooks were originally prepared by the Balochistan Textbook Board in 1972 and have remained largely unchanged for decades. Teachers, who have been teaching these books for years, often know the content by heart, while students struggle to cope with outdated material. The lack of updated information, modern examples and current facts limits students’ ability to learn effectively and prepare for future challenges.
Education is a fundamental right, and every student deserves access to quality learning resources. I humbly request the Government of Balochistan and the Balochistan Board, Quetta, to urgently revise and modernise textbooks according to the current syllabus and global knowledge standards.
