Delayed schemes

Letter December 28, 2025
Delayed schemes

Thousands of middle-class families are facing immense hardships due to the CDA’s decades-long delay in developing residential sectors of Islamabad. Sectors like E-12, I-12, I-14 and C-15 were launched years ago, yet they remain largely uninhabitable.

For many allottees, these plots represent their life savings. Many elderly citizens, who bought these plots in the 1980s and 90s, hoping to build a retirement home, have passed away without ever seeing a single brick laid. Those who are still waiting are forced to live in expensive rented houses while their own land remains tied up in litigation or administrative lethargy.

While the CDA frequently announces “new deadlines” and “fast-track” projects, the ground reality of broken roads and lack of basic utilities tells a different story. I urge the CDA chairman and the federal government to prioritise the completion of these existing sectors over launching new luxury schemes. The human cost of these delays is too high to ignore.
