On the Sindh-Balochistan border, the Hub Dam is a major water source for both Hub and Karachi. It supplies drinking water and supports industries in Sindh and Balochistan. The water flows from Hub Dam to Karachi through Hub Canal which has been damaged or under repair several times.
Due to heavy monsoon, it gets damaged. It thus slashes water sent to Karachi by around 60% times. Even when Hub Dam has water, it doesn’t reach properly due to poor infrastructure and management. Residents thus have to depend on tankers, industries suffer, and daily life becomes difficult.
Overall, water is available most of times, but delivery is the problem. Proper management and infrastructure are needed. A request goes to the government to manage water supply because it is important for survival.
