The concerned authorities and the general public must pay attention to the serious issue of the inaccessibility of public buildings for people with disabilities. In our area, many essential public places, including hospitals, schools, government offices and banks, lack basic facilities such as ramps, elevators, handrails and accessible toilets. As a result, wheelchair users and individuals with mobility difficulties face immense hardship in entering these buildings or moving within them.
This lack of proper infrastructure severely restricts the independence, dignity and fundamental rights of people with disabilities. They are often forced to rely on others for assistance or avoid visiting important institutions altogether, which leads to feelings of exclusion and discrimination. According to national laws and international human rights standards, every citizen has the right to equal access to public services.
Unfortunately, without disability-friendly infrastructure, people with disabilities continue to be marginalised. I strongly urge the concerned authorities to take immediate and practical measures to ensure accessibility in all public buildings.
