Many parts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, particularly the Satellite Town and its surrounding blocks, have been suffering from a serious low gas pressure for the past several weeks. Coinciding with a considerable dip in temperatures, people have been struggling with nearly non-existent gas supply during peak hours, typically from 6am to 9pm and from 6pm to 9pm.
This poor supply makes it impossible for families to cook their morning and evening meals, and it leaves homes dangerously cold. This situation forces poor and middle-class citizens to buy expensive LPG cylinders or use electric appliances, creating a major financial burden they cannot sustain.
The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and other relevant government bodies must investigate this grave issue. Urgent steps must be taken to ensure adequate gas pressure for all domestic consumers.
