The police checkpoint on the Islamabad Expressway, right after crossing the Faizabad Interchange towards Islamabad, is causing serious inconvenience for thousands of daily commuters. During rush hours, especially school, college and office timings, long lines of vehicles stretch all the way to Khanna Pul.
A journey that normally takes 20 minutes now takes an hour or even longer. Students reach their educational institutes late and officegoers are also stuck for long periods, wasting precious time every morning.
Even more worrying is, emergency vehicles like ambulances can often be seen stuck in the same traffic, unable to move forward due to the heavy congestion. Commuters say the entire mess is caused by the police checkpoint, as the road becomes clear immediately after the barrier is crossed. I urge the authorities to take notice of this growing problem and find a better solution that ensures public safety without making common people suffer every day.
