The civic conditions in Bhagnari town of District Kachhi in Balochistan reflect an alarming level of neglect, where the residents continue to struggle for the most essential elements of human life.
Access to clean drinking water remains a distant dream for the inhabitants of Bhagnari. Families are compelled to travel long distances every day simply to secure water. The condition of roads is distressing too — broken, unpaved, and completely absent in several areas. They isolate the region and expose travelers to constant danger.
The lack of medical facilities poses an even greater threat. The area is without a properly functioning hospital, and the limited health units that exist are deprived of staff, medicines and basic emergency support. In cases of medical urgency, people must undertake long and risky journeys, often with tragic outcomes.
Education, an essential pillar of development, also remains in a dismal state. Many schools suffer from inadequate infrastructure, a shortage of teachers and a lack of educational resources. As a result, the youth of the area continue to be deprived of opportunities that could lead them toward a better future.
Such conditions create the painful impression that the state views this region as an afterthought, treating its residents as though they are less worthy of the rights promised to all citizens. Yet, despite the surrounding despair, the people of Bhagnari still hold hope that the authorities will eventually recognise their hardships and take sincere steps to alleviate them.
Both provincial and federal governments should take immediate, practical measures to ensure clean water, proper healthcare, better educational facilities and safe road networks in Bhagnari. Only then can we claim to uphold the dignity and equality of all Pakistanis.
