For students of poor families across rural Sindh, the University of Sindh located in District Jamshoro stands as the only affordable institution for higher studies. It’s a place where enthusiastic young minds come to realise their dreams and uplift their communities. Unfortunately, their only beacon of hope is losing its purpose.
The deteriorating law and order situation, strengthening reign of politically-motivated student groups and administration’s inability to enforce disciplinary policies on campus have eroded the university’s vibrant academic environment.
As a result of all this, classrooms once meant for learning are now plagued by chaotic disorder. If timely action is not taken, the very purpose of this institution — empowering the rural youth through education — will be defeated. The concerned authorities must take action for the university to reclaim its lost integrity before it becomes a monument to wasted potential.
