Bullying in schools

Letter November 09, 2025
Bullying in schools

Bullying has become a painful reality in many schools, especially for new and low-income students who face constant humiliation and fear. Seniors and classmates often mock or exploit them, damaging their confidence and mental well-being. Instead of focusing on studies, these students live in anxiety and lose interest in school. Over time, this emotional distress can lead to depression, absenteeism and even school dropouts, creating long-term harm to a child’s future.

To end this toxic culture, schools must enforce strict anti-bullying policies and form committees to protect vulnerable students. Teachers and counsellors should be trained to identify early signs of bullying and provide emotional support to victims. Every child deserves a safe, respectful and encouraging learning environment.
